Specialist assessment

Psychological evaluation

Our Clinical Psychologists can complete a psychological evaluation. This is a comprehensive clinical interview which is usually completed over 2 to 3 sessions and will include taking a full history and completing a number of psychometric assessments depending on the presenting difficulties. The psychologist will provide a report, with a formulation of psychological functioning and recommendations for any further specialist assessment or treatment. This can be helpful for someone who is struggling with their mental health and is not sure what may be going on and/or what treatment may be most helpful.

Adult ADHD Assessments

Our Clinical Psychologists can complete an assessment of ADHD for individuals over the age of 18. This assessment is conducted in line with NICE guidelines best practice. It will involve a comprehensive clinical interview, including with a partner or family member where appropriate and you will complete specialist psychometric questionnaires. The psychologist will provide a report confirming whether you meet criteria for a diagnosis based on the DSM-V criteria and outline recommendations.

Please note: we do not prescribe medication and if you are confirmed as having a diagnosis of ADHD any pharmaceutical treatment still needs to be titrated and prescribed by a specialist psychiatrist. This is not available through our service.

Please also note we do not provide ADHD assessment for anyone under the age of 18. We also do not offer Autism assessments for either adults or children

Cognitive Assessments

Cognitive assessments can be used to identify learning disabilities, intellectual giftedness and cognitive strengths and difficulties. Cognitive assessments involve a short clinical history taking and the administration of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale IV, which is a standardised and validated measure of Intellectual Ability. A full report is provided, with appropriate recommendations.

Capacity Assessments – capacity to instruct a legal representative

Where there are concerns with regards to an individual’s understanding of information crucial to the legal decision-making process, we are able to carry out assessments of 'Capacity to Instruct'. This involves the completion of a cognitive assessment (if this has not already been carried out) and a short interview. A full report is provided, along with a capacity certificate.
